Nest was on an I shaped girder of a steel railroad bridge spanning a road, 25 feet from the ground and 1.5 feet from the rarely used rails. Compactly made of grass and weed stems and stalks and mud, lined thickly with grass. Large and cavity 2 inches deep. Every year since 1898 a Robin or two has nested on this bridge. It is not unusual for Robin in North Philadelphia Co., to nest on R.R. bridges.
