May 10. 4:46 A.M. Cardinal nest in cedar at N. Wisconsin of this area, need ladder, 3 cardinal eggs warm. Think all as cardinal. 4 cardinal on nest [24.29 x 18.76] embryo preserved. 5/14, 1:05 P.M. 2 eggs + 0 warm, no bruises. Cardinal on nest 5/16 - 10:10 A.M. on belly, head down damp. Wrapped egg + 0 no bruises. Young on nest dropped half head it brown. Bounce off ladder before it hit ground. Painted as fast block 5/18. 7:33 P.M. 2 babies + 0 no bruises. Removed 0. Cardinal on nest. One baby has red eyes they "if" 3/9 didn't look at other one - both alive.

The collector accidentally dropped a young bird while climbing down from the nest, though fortunately it bounced off the ladder before hitting the ground and survived.
